Enterprise 2.0 technology delivers MORE value in a new way (Intro to 10 part series)

Enterprise 2.0 tech is web-based technology that revolves around people, often referred to as Enterprise social software.

It’s different than traditional enterprise software because it is designed for people first, not just processes.  It connects employees and helps people collaborate and communicate effectively rather than work in siloes.  It empowers employees to add their voice and their knowledge to the collective intelligence.  It helps people co-create intangible assets as knowledge workers.  The more people that participate, the more valuable it becomes.

Rather than solely automating work processes, it brings connections, communities, collaboration and communication to the forefront of work…as a new type of integrated work platform.  For example, many Enterprise 2.0 platforms integrate apps such as wikis, blogs, community groups, forums, social networking profiles, wikis, document collaboration, document repositories, social bookmarking, automatic mashups, integrated search, activity/RSS feeds, participation incentives, recommendation engines, an effective UI, and more.

Enterprise 2.0 technologies are important to innovation because widespread connection, collaboration, aggregation, and expression contribute to innovation.

Innovation is something new that creates value (whether incremental or breakthrough)–here’s how Enteprise 2.0 tech adds MORE value in a new way.
