Job Description:

Our client located in Kent, WA is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join their talented IT team. Interested individual must possess a passion for partnering with all aspects of the business to produce successful business strategies, find cost-effective solutions and increase value for shareholders. Essential for this position is extensive business intelligence design, development, and support experience using Microsoft software development tools and technology stack.

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Business Intelligence capabilities. Help users “surface” hidden relationships, and create fresh business insights. Accelerate IT and business productivity via ad-hoc and self-service reporting, sophisticated multi-dimensional analysis, dashboards, etc.
• Hands-On leadership in the development of data delivery applications using Microsoft business intelligence tools, focused in SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, Excel Services, Performance Point.
• Analyze complex business problems in collaboration with stakeholders and assess how automated systems and business process changes can solve them.
• Help drive a consistent set of standards across the company for application architecture and design, software development methodology, and other IT related areas. Participates in the development and maintenance of corporate data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries and data element naming standards.
• Actively maintain and nurture relationships with business and technical leaders across organization in an effort to understand business opportunities, pain points and requirements as the foundation for engineering efforts, models and tools. Influence key individuals across the organization to achieve results.

Requirements:

• Minimum of ten (10) years development experience with extensive working experience in designing and building data warehouses, data marts. Expert developing multi-dimensional structures using SQL Server Analysis Services 2005/2008 as well as developing end user reporting in SQL Server Reporting Services 2005/2008 and with database reporting tools (Crystal Reports, MS Access, etc.). Understanding of building security models for drill level access to cubes as well as within the physical dimensional schema.
• Expert developing business applications in a SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 environment in both relational and multi-dimensional environments. Proficiency in TSQL, MDX, XML. Proven experience working within teams to design and develop medium scale, global, enterprise-wide business applications.
• Solid understanding of modern application architectures, development methodologies and tools is needed. Demonstrate advanced understanding of change and release management practices and tools. The candidate should have exemplary experience in software development.
• Expertise in the design, development and deployment of enterprise-level N-tier applications on the MS .Net platforms is needed.
• Experience with concepts, tools, and platforms that involve SOA, ESBs, orchestration, BPM, presentation-layer integration with portals is highly desirable.
• Must be comfortable with ambiguity and fast change with an ability to adapt quickly and easily. Ability to analyze complex problems and move them to resolution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Positive attitude and ability to build strong relationships within the company and with external partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of experience and training.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop scalable systems that robustly implement machine learning algorithms to process large volumes of unstructured data in real time
• Apply a deep keenness to understand the science behind the technology to further the successful application of the science
• Provide thought leadership to the company for software design, algorithm design, and implementation of critical systems
• Participate in and help improve key processes including software requirements, software design, code review, and testing
• Stay abreast of technology trends, inform the organization on the emerging software and hardware technologies, and lead discussions about incorporating new technology that could impact the company roadmap

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• 5+ years as a software engineer, including major contributions to complex projects, preferably in both established and early-stage technology companies
• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Strong commitment to software development best practices and code quality
• Very strong coding skills in an object-oriented language such as Java or C#
• Experience with Apache stack (e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, Lucene) a big plus
• Experience with High-Performance Computing architectures a plus, e.g. MapReduce, GPU-based computation
• Strong design and data modeling skills
• Familiarity with NLP, text mining and machine learning algorithms – highly preferred
• Proven ability to work in a startup-like environment with little supervision
• Initiative and creativity
• Demonstrated history of passion for tracking emerging technology trends

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
