VP of Engineering

VP OF ENGINEERING Our client located in downtown Bellevue, WA is looking to add a seasoned, highly motivated, and hands-on VP of Engineering. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Day-to-day management of a team of software architects, engineers, and software test engineers
• Refinement of engineering team structure, staffing and processes to achieve continuous improvement in the quality of delivery of the team, while maintaining the agility required in taking a revolutionary science-based technology to market
• Refinement of software design processes to ensure robustness and scalability
• Hands-on development and review of key elements of software architecture, design, and code review
• Cooperative dialog with Senior Leadership Team and key contributors to help define and evolve the product road map
• Leading development of scalable architecture for information retrieval and machine learning type systems

QUALIFICATIONS The qualified candidate will be able to interface with executive level customer contacts, provide support for key accounts where a strong technology voice promotes sales, and substantially participate in discussions about market dynamics for our product space to make suggestions that are valuable to product positioning. Additionally the selected leader will have the following qualifications:

• 10+ years as a leader and manager for software architects and engineering leads in established and early-stage technology companies
• Strong team building and leadership skills to motivate engineering to a high-level of achievement
• Strong operational and project management skills including experience in implementing agile software development processes
• Able to investigate technology issues when necessary to make a determination of fundamental technological issues, challenges, or opportunities as needed
• Able to understand these systems to a degree that ensures functional testing is complete
• Able to leverage open source to accelerate product development
• Able to incorporate new technology developed by science team in a systematic way
• Able to manage customer implementations and relationships post sales
• Able to manage partner product relationships at the technology level
• Able to communicate what the products do and how the technology works in an eloquent way
• Able to translate product requirements into meaningful functional requirements

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
