Ally Robotics
Ally Arm
A robotic solution enabling humans to solve real-world challenges
Background
Ally Robotics, a Washington-based company guided by the ambitious mission of “advancing the human experience through smart and simple tech,” partnered with Fresh to accelerate the launch of a new robotic arm that is more serviceable, lighter, smarter, and easier to program than current industrial offerings. Our team of robotics engineers collaborated with Ally while they were still in incognito mode as a company, where trust was paramount and building an innovative, proprietary product “in the dark” was vital.
Challenges
- Aiming to decrease the historically high cost of robotics solutions with a 100% custom product.
- Navigating cost dependence while maximizing functionality and mechanical rigor.
- Aligning with Ally’s team at every step, staying vision-focused, and supporting Ally’s goal of “enhancing the holistic human experience” through robotics.
Versatility for various use cases
The Fresh team collaborated on mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering requirements and efforts, in addition to industrial design. Our team worked in lockstep with the client to produce a robotic arm that seamlessly integrates into diverse environments, including food service, construction, and industrial workplace settings. We ensured any adherence to technical requirements also adhered to the company’s mission of delivering a solution that democratizes automation and empowers human beings to be more productive.
Seamless form and fine-tuned mechanics
Our industrial design team worked closely with Ally Robotics from the outset, developing a product with form and function that represent their brand values: simplicity, integrity, and uniqueness, without compromising the arm’s articulation and mechanical requirements. Initial sketches considered the arm motor’s geometry and kinematic articulation requirements, ensuring that any concept we considered incorporated easy-to-predict movements as integral design elements.
